Description

A Moment of Magic is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization with a student-run chapter at the University of Pennsylvania that allows college students to volunteer at children’s hospitals and social service institutions dressed up as fairytale characters and superheroes. Our mission is to allow medically vulnerable children the opportunity to “just-be-a-kid”, even if just for a moment. Our organization visits children in need free of charge to the institution.

Question: Hey! I'm really interested to be part of A Moment of Magic. However, I didn't attend the fair this morning as it was 5 am for me and I'm currently struggling with adapting to US timezone while being in Asia. Will any resources shared during the session be available online? - Yasmin Abdul Razak

Question: What type of roles are available in the club? - Anonymous
There are two main roles in the club: Magic Makers and Characters. A Magic Maker is typically responsible for advertising for the club, making sure the characters are ready for their calls/visits with children, and they can also shadow character calls and go live on the national AMOM Facebook page with crafts or story times. Characters dress up and will go on hospital visits/make hotline calls with kids whose parents request them. Any Magic Maker can go through the audition process on a semester basis to become a character.

Question: How do I get involved during COVID? - Anonymous
Even though things are remote right now, AMOM has been doing hotline telephone calls with kids and Magic Makers always have the opportunity to accompany characters on the calls and do lives on the Facebook page.
