Activism, Media, and Education Group is a Penn student interest group to explore the use and misuse of media and technology in critical pedagogy and educational empowerment from an intersectional and transnational perspective. We aim to emphasize the multi-faceted labor and love involved in educational practices and the process through which the landscape of education and equality is reconfigured by technology and community organizing, broadly defined.
We hold biweekly meetings to discuss various educational topics and their intersection with feminist, queer and racial justice. Activities include woodcut and zine-making workshops, movie screening, reading groups, gamification workshops, invited talks, and collaboration with other ally groups if possible.
