The integral purpose of AACT is to take a step beyond informing: taking rational action. AACT will disclose — and submerge into — social realities that are kept from us intentionally or unintentionally. AACT will openly discourse about the issues that are considered “inflammatory" and advocate for those who are less fortunate. Through a collective series of seminars with renowned activists, journalists, and educators this summer, AACT has already touched upon -- and hope to address in future -- the following issues:
1. Uyghur Muslim Crisis in East Turkestan, China
2. Cruelties in ICE Detention Centers
3. Yemen Humanitarian Crisis
4. Racial Inequalities in America
5. Gender and Conflict Zones
6. Political Turmoil in Sudan
7. Epistemic diversity for decolonial and sustainable futures
Focusing on multiple issues at a time, AACT will connect to influential people all across the community, city, states and the world, and make sure that not only we hear the truth, but work towards alleviating the crisis. The core component of AACT would be the steps that we will take to solve a particular issue. These actions towards a resolution will come in after a deliberate discussion between our different committees, people who are affected by these atrocities, and other close-knit groups at Penn.
