Mission: Founded in June of 2021, the Society for the Ethical Application of Behavioral Science is a space for students at the University of Pennsylvania to discuss the moral implications of applied behavioral and decision science. As the field grows in popularity and presence, we will challenge our own beliefs and each other in an effort to bring ethical considerations into our work as practicioners.
All knowledge and experience levels are welcome; the only requirement is an interest in the intersection of behavior change and morality!
Values:
- Nonjudgmental, good-faith inquiry into ethical issues in the field of behavioral science
- Dedication to examining our own priors and moral intuitions when it comes to what counts as “good”
- Constant vigilance & consideration of unintended consequences
Reading the discussion recommendations and historical context are actively encouraged but are by no means necessary to participate in discussions.
