Penn's campus chapter of Habitat for Humanity participates in local builds (pre-pandemic), hosts on-campus events, and events with other local chapters. We have various committees that organize events including the build, fundraising, outreach, coalition and social committees.
Habitat Philadelphia is an affiliate of Habitat for Humanity International, the largest non-profit homebuilder worldwide. There are more than 2,100 Habitat affiliates in over 100 countries. Together these affiliates have built over 400,000 homes since 1976. Every 10 minutes around the world, HFHI volunteers help move a family into safe, decent affordable shelter. We partner with families who enter our homeownership program based on three criteria: level of need, willingness to become partners in the program and ability to repay the loan. Our families earn between 30-60% below the median income. To give you an idea, the majority of our four person families are earning between $25,000 - $35,000/year.
