Locust Health Connect is the Penn chapter of the Ivy League+ Pre Health Society, a multi-university organization that connects pre-health students across universities to foster collaboration and growth. We provide professional development opportunities for students to gain hands-on skills, meet new people, and learn from leaders in healthcare. Some of our events have featured state surgeon generals, White House pandemic experts, and pharmaceutical executives, including the White House COVID Response Coordinator Dr. Deborah Birx, and Nobel Prize Laureates Dr. Katalin Kariko and Dr. Drew Weissman.
Here at Penn, we collaborate with local healthcare institutions to volunteer in the West Philadelphia community:
- Medical accompaniment for refugees (Partner: Philadelphia Refugee Health Collaborative)
- Virtual health navigation (Partner: Penn Medicine's Social Needs Response Team)
- Community health navigation in shelter homes (Partner: CHOP's Homeless Health Initiative)
- Public health magazine writing (Partner: Community HealthEd)
Please contact penn.ivyplus@gmail.com if interested in any of these opportunities and we will try our best to accommodate.
Some additional perks of joining our organization include discounts on MCAT prep courses and mentorship for MCAT, application prep, and navigating life as a pre-health student.
