Club Mission

Nonprofit Connect is a student-led program under the Netter Center for Community Partnerships in partnership with the Wharton Undergraduate Division to develop mutually beneficial, collaborative partnerships between Penn students and local nonprofit organizations in the greater Philadelphia area. First piloted in Summer 2020 to address urgent nonprofit needs that emerged during the pandemic, the program continues to connect university resources with community-based organizations through year-long partnerships.

Each academic year, Penn student project teams, led by an upperclassman project manager, and supported by Netter Center student board members, collaborate with nonprofit partners to address short and long-term organizational goals. Through this structure, Nonprofit Connect fosters real-world, community-focused problem solving while helping students gain hands-on experience in project management, communication, and social impact work. The program ultimately aims to strengthen the capacity of local nonprofits while cultivating the next generation of socially-conscious leaders at Penn.

Question: What kind of activities have this club held and what was the impact - Anonymous

Penn students are matched with local nonprofits in project teams or as individual volunteers. Over the course of the semester, students work closely with their nonprofit to complete their tasks, which could involve project-based work--such as designing a website or developing a social media strategy--day-to-day administrative tasks, or program facilitation. Nonprofit partners have appreciated the extra support that Penn students give them, and Penn students have found the work to be a great real-world learning experience.
