Off The Beat is the premier modern rock & pop student a cappella group at the prestigious University of Pennsylvania. Rooted in rock music, our repertoire now spans a range of genres from pop and R&B to electronic and funk.
Founded in 1987 and now in our 38th year, Off The Beat has become one of the most decorated collegiate a cappella groups in the US winning over 30 CARA Awards, being featured on 17 Best of Collegiate A Cappella (BOCA) albums, and starring in the second season of POP TV's aca-documentary television series, "Sing it On!"
"Membership in Off The Beat gives you an outlet for musical expression and growth. It comes with the immediate backing of over 30 years of alumni and the legacy of being the most award-winning a cappella group at Penn. But above all, Off The Beat gives you an immediate family on campus… a group that will have your back no matter what. It’s been my greatest love at Penn!" - Mic Zammuto '21
"Joining Off The Beat gives you the opportunity to become part of a legacy that carries beyond your four years. The level of commitment from each individual is showcased as we continually push the boundaries of a cappella performance. It’s a group that is continuously redefining itself and growing as the individual tastes of its members change. Off The Beat has grown to be some of my closest, most supportive friends on campus, and joining was the best decision I made at Penn." - Sabrina Elson '22
