The Bioethics Society at Penn is a forum for students to discuss and debate issues in bioethics. We hope to generate awareness of pressing ethical issues in science, health, and medicine affecting students, the Philadelphia community, and the world. Through case studies, we investigate bioethical topics by connecting theoretical moral discussion with real-world application. We hope to create an open and safe environment for students to voice their opinions, learn about bioethical analysis, and explore how we can answer bioethical questions.
The Bioethics Society at Penn also aims to compete at the yearly National Bioethics Bowl. Participation in bowl is determined by random draw and our ability to compete each year is not guaranteed. If Penn is selected, members may interview for positions on the competitive team to represent Penn at the Bowl.
