Founded on November 5, 1862, the University of Pennsylvania Glee Club is the oldest performing arts group at Penn. Members wore red and blue ribbons at the debut concert--the first use of Penn’s colors in uniform. Since then, the Club has represented the University across the nation and abroad, performing at major events such as Convocation, Homecoming, Alumni Weekend, and Commencement.
Touring internationally since 1959, the Glee Club has visited nearly all 50 states and over 50 nations. It first sang at the White House for President Calvin Coolidge in 1926 and has since performed for numerous world leaders. Now in its 164th season, the Club blends heritage with modern artistry, preserving Penn’s traditions while showcasing choral excellence and theatrical showmanship. One of the oldest collegiate Glee Clubs in the U.S., it has albums on Spotify, Apple Music, YouTube Music.
