Club Mission

The Penn Sailing Team is a community of athletes from all backgrounds and accepts members with no prior experience every year! The team works hard in the gym and gets to spend at least 3 days a week on the water at practice, and many weekends traveling for regattas. The Penn Sailing Team is an undergraduate student group at Penn.

The team has a long-standing tradition of fun and competitive sailing. During both seasons, we have a full weekend regatta schedule of intercollegiate races. We are part of MAISA (Mid-Atlantic Intercollegiate Sailing Association) and sail both in-conference and out-of-conference races as an open and women's teams.

Our fall season begins when school starts in September and lasts until early November. In spring, we begin practicing in March and continue to the end of school. Practices are Tuesdays through Friday. We meet at 3:30 and get back to campus by 7:15pm.

For any year, you can just email me or get in contact with a team member and come to practice to try it out. If you enjoy it and want to commit, we will train you over time!

I'd say around 15 hours per week, not including travel to competitions on the weekend!

You don't need any prior sailing experience to join! All you need is a willingness to learn and the team and the coach will help you develop into the best you can be!
