The Penn Sailing team is a close community of athletes from all backgrounds and accepts members with no prior experience every year! The team works hard in the gym and gets to spend at least 3 days a week on the water at practice and many weeks traveling the east coast for regattas. The Penn Sailing Team is a student group at the University of Pennsylvania.
The team has a long-standing tradition of fun, exciting and competitive sailing. During both seasons, we have a full weekend regatta schedule of intercollegiate races. We are part of MAISA (Mid-Atlantic Intercollegiate Sailing Association) and sail both in-conference and out-of-conference races as an open and women's teams.
Our fall season begins when school starts in September and lasts until early November. In the spring, we begin practicing in March and continue to the end of school. Practices are Tuesdays through Friday. We meet at 3:30 to drive to the Corinthian, where we sail on the Deleware, and are back on campus by 7:00. We have regattas every weekend during the season and often send teams to different competitions on the same weekend.
