Club Mission

We are a club team of mainly undergraduates (grad students welcome too!) who love to ski, snowboard, and have a blast on the slopes! If you enjoy being on the mountain, you'll love being a part of our group.

While there's a lot of team interaction regardless of the time of year, our season centers on five to six weekend trips typically beginning in early January and culminating in mid to late February. We leave on Friday afternoons and return to Penn on Sunday evenings. Our weekends are spent racing and free skiing with other East Coast schools at mountains in NY, NJ, and PA as a part of the USCSA Atlantic Highlands Conference.

Question: Do all members of the team participate in races/competitions? - Jack Ryan
We encourage everyone to try racing or freestyle at least once, but if you don't have any competition experience, don't worry! Most of us don't (in fact, none of the officers have any competitive background). The competition is very relaxed (we one time had someone who raced down in a banana suit), and we recommend giving it a try because who knows, you may end up loving it!

Question: If I am a varsity athlete, is it feasible to join this club? - Jack Williams
We have had many varsity athletes on our team in the past! However, it is relatively dependent on the sport--some coaches are worried about the risk of injury (incredibly rare), and trips do generally last the entire weekend so you would have to miss any practice time. Our race camp trip during winter break is a big hit for those who have commitments during the season but still want to ski with the team.

Question: Is skiing/snowboarding required/suggested for joining? - Anonymous
Experience isn't ~necessarily~ required, but be willing to hit the slopes in some way! (hint: penguin sliding could work) We don't give lessons (although we will be happy to give pointers), so not having any experience can be difficult. It doesn't take too long to feel comfortable on skis, so if you feel confident then that's good enough for us!
