Club Mission

Penn for Refugee Empowerment (PRE) is a student organization at the University of Pennsylvania. PRE's mission is to empower refugees through education assistance and to foster a welcoming community for refugees to build their own success in Philadelphia.

PRE members engage directly with refugees and support their educational pursuits through tutoring. Volunteer tutors, who have all completed cultural training, offer their services in ESL and a variety of subjects virtually to refugees in Philadelphia and around the world.

Working closely with resettlement centers in Philadelphia, cultural groups on other college campuses, and international organizations, PRE aims to increase awareness of refugee issues and support refugees through advocacy, fundraising, and education.

PRE is a diverse community of human rights- and service-minded individuals who are passionate about making a difference in marginalized people's lives.
