Club Mission

Mock Trial is a student group at the University of Pennsylvania - and the school's one and only competitive mock trial program! Since 1996, the Mock Trial team has traveled around the country to compete in some of the most prestigious tournaments—providing outlets for future lawyers, actors, debaters, and public speakers to refine their craft.

Mock Trial refers to the act of simulating a trial. It’s a mix of public speaking, acting and debating. It’s having the skill to take the stand and be a ridiculous eye-witness, a grieving mother or a serious doctor. It’s dominating the courtroom and swaying an entire jury box to vote in your favor. It’s sharp suits, fiery rebuttals, and fast paced objection battles.

How to Get Involved

Mock Trial at Penn is excited to be recruiting new members this fall!

We will be tabling at the student activities fair on Locust during the first week of classes, and we’re excited to meet you all there! For anyone looking for a sneak peek at what life on PMT is like, we encourage you to attend our NSO preceptorial on Saturday, 8/22, in David Rittenhouse Laboratory. The location and signup information can be found in our Instagram bio.

We will be hosting 3 informational sessions during the first week of classes to provide an overview of our auditions process. You do not need to attend more than one info session—the content will be exactly the same on all three days! If you are unable to make our info sessions, please make sure to join our mailing list, as this is where our audition information and signup sheet will be circulated.

Our info sessions will take place in Houston Hall on Wednesday (8/26), Thursday (8/27), and Friday (8/28) during the first week of classes from 4:30-5:30 PM. Our Round 1 auditions will take place on the following Sunday (8/30). We will release information about audition logistics and signups at our info sessions!

You can follow our Instagram account, @upenn_mock_trial, to stay up to date with information about the team. Don’t hesitate to reach out if you have any questions!

PMT only recruits members in the fall semester. We do not take new members in the spring.
