Founded in 1986, the Penny Loafers, or Loaf, is the University of Pennsylvania’s only all-gender indie-pop a cappella group.
We perform an eclectic mix of songs in genres ranging from pop &amp; indie to R&amp;B, electronic, and more.  
To put it simply, we love introducing audiences to songs from up-and-coming artists and reinventing our favorite household jams.&nbsp;

Penn's only all-gender, indie-pop competition a cappella group!

Loaf is the perfect place to further explore your passion for music and singing while still having fun and performing at a range of different events.

Loaf has been such a huge part of my time at Penn. It’s so cool how a love of music brought so many different, amazing people together. No matter how stressed or busy I was, I always looked forward to going to rehearsals and gigs and singing with these crazy, awesome kids. I’m going to miss all the great times we had, from auditions to retreat to staying up til dawn, but I’m so excited to come back for the show on the other side as a crusty loaf!!!

I love loaf because it’s allowed me to pursue singing and my musical interests in fun and innovative ways, while providing a great community of people.

As an international student, Loaf has come to mean so much more to me than just the people I sing with. It’s been a source of never-ending support and love over the years and I couldn’t have made it through my Penn experience without the relationships I made here. Some of my favorite memories at Penn are from loaf retreats where we get to just spend time together and enjoy each others company. I’ll miss the late nights of cooking, singing, laughing, and genuinely just acting like a huge dysfunctional family. Can’t wait to be in the front row cheering you all on!!

The Penny Loafers is the beat thing I’ve done at Penn! Spending 7 hours a week with genuinely cool, interesting people who share your passion for music is amazing!

Loaf has been my Penn family since day one. Growing up with this group of incredibly talented, intelligent, and funny people has been an essence to my college experience. I will miss unexpected laughter during practice, learning tiktoks, indulging in insomnia birthday cakes, and dancing/aca-bopping to our music. I can’t wait to see the group shine as an alumni. I know that the loaf will never go stale <3

I never expected Loaf to become such a big part of my life at Penn. I didn't think I would join a group in the first place, but in joining one I also joined a family. As cliché as that sounds, I've really never been involved in anything where I love everyone involved, top to bottom (including alumni!). Not only is everyone in it someone I would consider a best friend, they are all so talented and dedicated to the music that we produce. I walk out of every rehearsal more glad that I joined than the last time
