What is Phi Delta Epsilon?
Phi Delta Epsilon International Medical Fraternity creates physicians of integrity with a lifelong commitment to our guiding principles of philanthropy, deity, and education through fellowship, service, mentoring, and leadership. PhiDE is the oldest and largest medical fraternity, with chapters at medical schools and undergraduate institutions across the world.
The PhiDE chapter at Penn is the only pre-medical fraternity for Penn undergraduate students on campus. We have a chapter of around 80 members with diverse backgrounds and interests. Our alumni have gone on to a variety of gap year programs, medical schools, MD/PhD programs, MD/MBA programs, and more.
What We Do
In our chapter, we strive to foster a community of students on the pre-medical path, through a variety of social, service, philanthropy, and educational events. We pride ourselves for our balance between social and professional development programming. We are a tight-knit family, where members are consistently looking out for and supporting one another. Additionally, we provide professional development opportunities to ensure that our members are positioned to succeed as pre-medical students.
Who Can Join
Any undergraduate student at the University of Pennsylvania intending on pursuing a degree in medicine (M.D. or D.O.) is encouraged to join. We are a co-ed pre-professional fraternity.
Can I be a part of a traditional Greek fraternity/sorority while simultaneously being in PhiDE?
Yes! Because we are a professional fraternity that is separate from the Intercultural Greek Council (IGC), Interfraternity Council (IFC), and Panhellenic Council (PHC), you are more than welcome to be a part of both a social and professional fraternity/sorority.
