Penn Undergraduate Biotech Society Application

The Penn Undergraduate Biotech Society is a student group interested in biotech, healthcare, biology, and finance. We have 5 committees: Consulting, Finance, Research, Marketing, and Special Initiatives. Every semester, we give talks, host a guest lecture series, consult for a biotech start-up, and offer biotech career development opportunities. All events are open to the Penn community; you do not have to be a committee member to attend. You may list your top 2 committee preferences in the application.

Committees Descriptions:

Consulting: semester long projects with local biotechnology startups. Often sourced from Penn Medicine and Penn Center for Innovation. Past projects have included microfluidic diagnostic to detect blood flow disorders, gold nanoparticles for breast cancer imaging, and neuroanalytics continuous patient monitoring.

Marketing: supports the sustainability and long term growth of PUBS. Responsible for newsletters, promoting events, ideating new workshops and club activities.

Special Initiatives: current projects include producing PUBS' first podcast, hosting semester speaker series and hosting educational events at West Philly high schools

Finance: Dilligence and reporting into major biomarphacy financial news, mergers and acquisition, and industry trends. Organize speaker events from inudstry and banking. 

Research: Roundtable discussions of journal reviews to discuss biological breakthroughs, novel drug mechanisms, and therapeutic developments. Organize speaker events of R&D in inudstry and academia.
