Club Mission

The mission of Stimulus Children’s Theatre Company (Stim) is to produce shows that teach valuable lessons which resonate with audiences of all ages. Students at the University of Pennsylvania share stories that communicate themes we feel are important to pass on to young audiences, such as friendship, acceptance and compassion.

In addition to performing on-campus shows for our peers (typically a musical in the Fall and a play in the Spring), Stim is unique among Penn student theatre in our community service endeavours. From off-campus community shows to theatre-based workshops, we love to inspire, benefit and teach Philadelphia youth. Our community-based programming draws upon our experiences within theatre and music to provide arts-based enrichment for children in Philadelphia.

Question: Hello! I'm curious as to how many hours of commitment are expected from members per week? Also, where does the group rehearse? - Anonymous

Hi! Rehearsals will be held in a few different places. Mainly Platt House and Solomon Labs, but also in Annenberg.

Depending on your role in the show hours may differ. For a lead role, you can probably expect 10-12 hours. For a supporting role, about 7-10. And for an ensemble, dance, or crew role, it would probably be 6-8 hours weekly.

This is all subject to change with COVID and the regulations with spacing and room occupancy. However, you would only be called when you need to be there.
