Are you interested in working closely with Philadelphia high school students, who otherwise wouldn’t have the opportunity to code? Do you want to join a close-knit group of Penn student volunteers? Are you passionate about social justice or gaining mentorship experience?
If the answer to any of these questions was “yes” or at least “mmm idk...maybe?”, check us out at www.techitoutphilly.com!
We are a student group from the University of Pennsylvania that works with Philadelphia high school students to explore social change through computer science. Tech It Out Philly’s goal is to develop the next generation of technologists by showing them that through mastery of technology they can be socially engaged community leaders. Tech it Out teaches high school students to be engaged in technology by pairing them with Penn student mentors who have chosen technology as a career path. Tech It Out teaches students the technology to develop web sites that address, analyze, and offer solutions to critical social issues suggested by and important to the high school students.
