Description

TEDxPenn is a nonprofit organization founded in 2010 by students who sought to empower ideas within and around the Penn community. We hold a license at the University of Pennsylvania to host the largest student-run TEDx conference in the world, and today our TedTalks have amassed over 15 million views on Youtube with a wide range of speakers, from NFL players to Penn professors to the creator of Apple Emojis. This coming spring, we plan to host our annual conference where 1000 attendees are invited to engage with TedTalks about technology, entertainment, and design. Check out TED talks from our previous conferences here: https://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=tedxpenn

The TEDxPenn team is comprised of 30+ Penn students divided among five branches: Speaker & Content, Operations, Design, Marketing, Finance. We are recruiting members for each of these branches and encourage you to attend an information session to learn more about each team.

Question: Does this club accept members during the spring? - Anonymous

We may run another round of recruitment in the Spring depending on each team's needs after the semester. If there's a specific team you'd be interested in joining however, please email tedxpenn@gmail.com and we can get back to you about feasibly applying to join that team in the Spring!

Question: Do members themselves give TED talks, or do they organize the TEDxPenn conference? - Anonymous

Members organize the conference! But they don't give TED talks. There is a rigorous selection process to chose our speakers, who fly in from all over the world and draw on their extensive professional, academic, or life experiences to share a unique message. With 1000 attendees, our annual conference requires significant planning. Whether you're interested in the Speaker & Content, Perspectives, Operations, Design, Marketing, or Finance team, you will play a crucial role in carrying out the largest student-run TEDx conference in the world!

Question: Are graduate students allowed to join? - Anonymous

Yes! We appreciate diverse perspectives, including your unique course of study at Penn. You will indicate that you're a graduate student when you submit our application (coming out on September 1st on tedxpenn.com), and we'll be sure to take note of that.
