Club Mission

UME is proud to be one of the largest student-led media & entertainment organizations at the University of Pennsylvania. We explore numerous channels of the M&E industry, including music, film, gaming, and television. We host numerous events and partner with a number of organizations on and off campus to bring the most thoughtful speakers, meaningful workshops, and professional networking sessions to our members. Through our conscientious and consistent efforts to maintain relationships with alumni and build new relationships with current members, we hope to bridge the gap between business and the vast and exciting world of media & entertainment.

Apply via the Wharton Centralized Application by January 30th: https://pennclubs.com/apply For this upcoming Spring semester, we are taking new members for our brand new committee called Conferences. Please see below for the committee description.

Here is a description of our committees to help you decide which one to join!

Member Events: This committee combines organizes events stemming from our biggest event of the semester, the UME Speaker Series, through career treks in NYC and Philadelphia to get to know prominent media companies, most recently WME, and their internship opportunities, to company info sessions, workshops, and alumni networking events. Past events include our Barbie event from last spring, where we spoke with the brilliant minds from Mattel and Warner Bros. Pictures who brought the blockbuster film to life; this included Robbie Brenner (President of Mattel Films), along with Jesse Ehrman (President of Development & Production), Jeff Goldstein (President of Domestic Distribution), and Josh Goldstine (President of Worldwide Marketing) from Warner Bros. Pictures. Other Speaker Series events include Ari Greenburg (President of WME), Ravi Ahuja (President & COO of Sony Pictures Entertainment), Jason Weinberg (top talent manager), Jason Kilar (Founding CEO of Hulu), UME-Chella, and many more! Members of this committee work on all the outreach and logistics behind the events.

Conference: UME is excited to announce a brand new committee which will be dedicated to organizing a Fall entertainment summit. This will be an all day event with different panels, networking breakouts, and a keynote speaker. The conference committee will be taking this Spring semester to plan it all out. The role is similar to that of Events but on a larger scale, which is why we've decided to dedicate an entire committee to this endeavor. Members of the conference committee will also be working closely with UME's treasurer to help achieve corporate sponsorship.

Consulting: UME Consulting launched in the fall of 2024, provides pro-bono consulting services to Media and Entertainment businesses. We connect bright, talented, and ambitious students with businesses across the country striving to increase member’s opportunities and gain experience in the media and entertainment industry. Our consultants are the top students trained specifically to understand how to tackle and approach the challenges that we find. Services provided to clients include: analyzing market for competitors, strategizing business expansion through market research, branding and messaging overhaul, developing strategy for social media content, and creating marketing campaigns for new target demographics.

Marketing: Members of this committee work to build and maintain the brand of the club, develop UME's voice and presence across various social media channels such as Instagram and most recently, Spotify, spread the word about UME events across campus, and feed engagement through writing and new creative ideas. Committee members can take on different roles, including content, creative design, merch, social media, listserv, articles, website maintenance, and more.

Member Relations: This committee plans all the GBMs and social events of the club. The goal of this committee is to strengthen the UME community as a whole and create new bonds among members and the within the entertainment body at Penn as a whole. Past initiatives include UME Coffee Chats, which connected members together.
