Wharton Undergraduate Media & Entertainment Club (UME)

BusinessMediaUndergraduateWharton Council

Description

UME is proud to be one of the largest student-led media & entertainment organizations at the University of Pennsylvania. We explore numerous channels of the M&E industry, including music, film, gaming, and television. We host numerous events and partner with a number of organizations on and off campus to bring the most thoughtful speakers, meaningful workshops, and professional networking sessions to our members. Through our conscientious and consistent efforts to maintain relationships with alumni and build new relationships with current members, we hope to bridge the gap between business and the vast and exciting world of media & entertainment.

Here is a description of our committees to help you decide which one to join!

Member Events: This committee organizes a career trek for the members of the club through which students can get to know about the internship programs of prominent media companies. The committee also organizes new events for the members of the club which focus on networking with alumni.

Marketing: Members of this committee work at spreading the word about UME events via social media. Different sub-committees ranging from content, web design, merch, and social media, focus on creating promotional material in different formats to market the events.

Professional Development: This committee hosts weekly committee meetings where members can learn and understand industry trends across the media ecosystem and overall become a better future media professional. Members also plan speaker series focussing on specific industry themes. For example, the theme last semester was "The Business of Music" with a music touring agent from CAA and an executive from Roc Nation speaking.

Outreach and Member Relations: This committee plans all the GBMs and social events of the club. The goal of this committee is to strengthen the UME community as a whole. Past initiatives include "UME to Avengers: Endgame!", which took all UME members to a theatre to watch Avengers: Endgame.

Conference: This committee is dedicated to organizing UME's biggest event of the semester, the Entertainment Summit. The recent version, "UME-Chella" brought in speakers from a host of media/entertainment companies to speak about their work. Members of this committee work on all the logistics behind the summit.
