Club Mission

The Wharton Undergraduate Statistics Society (USS) is your resource for all things statistics at Penn. The Wharton Undergraduate Statistics Society is a student group at the University of Pennsylvania. Each year, the USS puts on a plethora of fun and engaging events, broadly under three categories:

Events: Professional development opportunities like research panels, professor talks, and coding workshops; social events like pizza mixers, study breaks, and course advice!
Academic Journal: Sharing statistical research on our website and writing articles each semester.
Tutoring: Volunteer tutoring opportunities for middle school students in the West Philadelphia community.

The USS operates in a three-tier structure:

Executive board
Committee members
General body members

To become a general body member, attend our events. Join committees by completing our application form at the beginning of each semester.

Question: To apply to multiple committees, do we just submit 2 different applications with the form (and choose 2 different options in the drop-down menu)? I can't find an option for saving a submission first (like what the instructions say), but it also says that only my most recent submission will be shared with the club application reviewers so I was a little confused. - Anonymous

We suggest choosing your first-choice committee in the drop-down menu. If you'd like to apply to multiple committees, please include info about both in the short-answer question that follows!

Yes you can include links to external websites in your response or you can email uss.upenn@gmail.com with attachments/other info (and mention that you emailed us something in your application). Thanks for asking!

Hi! In the club application form, you can select which committee you are interested in joining. If you are accepted into the club, you will have the title of Deputy VP for your committee.

The time commitment for Deputy VPs vary widely. It is really what you make out of it. Other than attending a few mandatory meetings with the executive board per semester, there is really no other time commitments unless you would like to create events, help with recruitment, etc.! There is no deadline to apply; however, we are wrapping up interviews for the semester. We interview students every beginning of each semester though!

Yes! We encourage all classes to apply! The form is here: https://forms.gle/fL2dP6ERpGUW9x46A **If you filled out the Wharton Centralized Application, there is no need to fill out this form. The Deputy VP position shadows the Executive Board. It is really what YOU make out of USS! You can help the VP of Communications send out emails, help VP of Membership with their recruitment tasks, etc!

To join the listserv, please go here: https://forms.gle/tuBQ4ZLemJdfTfDs8 There was a STAT@PENN event before the Sept 15th class registration deadline, but we plan on hosting that event every semester.
