Description:
Welcome to Walnut St., a Penn students network for changemakers interested in interdisciplinary fields like psychology, education, neuroscience, human development, international policy, etc. We aim to bridge leading knowledge to practical use. Mainly, we do three things: academic paper translation, virtual workshop, and interview.
Our mission:
Together with the most talented, motivated, and proactive students, we’re making an impact through bridging leading academic research to the practical field such as school district leaders, principals, teachers, and even parents.
What we ask:
- Professionalism. The Internet nowadays is full of information yet in varied qualities. In The Walnut St., we ask you to maintain a professional and academic attitude when disseminating science and knowledge: integrity, authenticity, and professionalism are three keys. We see ourselves as a community that shares true information in the most effective manner possible.
- Be proactive. Let your interest drive your action and voice. Rather than assigning tasks or projects to our members, we encourage individuals to come up with ideas and be motivated to execute with the support of the community. Proactivity is key to success here rather than passivity.
- Be collaborative. Together, we learn and build meaningful things. Having the ability to collaborate will make this community a lot more fun for you.
What we Offer:
- Growth - Having the opportunity to meet students from other backgrounds and fields of study, our members are able to push new boundaries and think outside of the box. Imagine a space where policymakers, entrepreneurs, researchers, and practitioners share their expertise within the field you intend to enter. The human potential is at the core of our values and the foundation on which we intend to build you as well.
- Community - With a cluster of diverse members, we are not only able to learn from and support each other. With year-round social events hosted at Penn, we create beautiful moments together with you.
- Impact - Together with the network of researchers and practitioners, your voices and actions matter.
