Wharton Asia Exchange (WAX) is a student group at the University of Pennsylvania. We are a pre-professional community for students who have an interest in the Asia business landscape and are looking to develop their skills in business.&nbsp;
Our Values
Membership Development: In WAX, our first priority is to be a developmental resource for our members. We strive to make every meeting purposeful and to design events so that members leave having learned something new.&nbsp;
Diversity (People &amp; Careers): We have hosted Wharton Diversity and Inclusion events and invited Asian speakers to offer advice on issues that are very pertinent to Asian people.&nbsp;
Community &amp; Support: It's easy to feel lost in a large club. As a result, WAX organizes family groups and smaller social events to make people feel connected in our tight-knit family.

Joining WAX my freshman fall introduced me to a community of friends and mentors. I was able to gain professional skills through my involvement in a committee. I enjoyed getting to know everyone through socials. Even though I’ve only been in WAX for a couple of months, it’s definitely a decision I don’t regret. It perfectly combines fun and academics and takes good care of its members.

The thing I really like about WAX is how much they focus on supporting their members and giving recognition to people that go above and beyond. I was able to join the board as a freshman after only a semester in the club because of my dedication, regardless of my year, school, or major.

WAX's investment curriculum taught things that I hadn't yet covered in my classes. And my stock pitch came in handy during finance interviews where I was asked to pitch a company on the spot.

Joining WAX during my freshman year helped me become a part of a community that aims to support each other as we navigate life at Wharton and Penn. WAX has helped me feel at home even when I'm across the country from my hometown, and explore Asian business and culture with peers who are as passionate about supporting diversity in business as I am.  In the past year, I've created meaningful relationships with upperclassmen and alumni who I know I can always go to for guidance. One of my greatest decisions freshman year was joining WAX, and I highly recommend that you do as well.

As a kid from Australia, the first few weeks of freshman year were especially overwhelming as I was suddenly thrust into an environment that was worlds away from anything that I’d been used to. Becoming a member of WAX gave me a sense of community and any doubts that I had of settling in at Penn were gone. I’ve learnt so much about Asian business from all of the workshops and guest speakers we’ve hosted, and the immense amount of work the club puts in to have these events is just a testament to how dedicated our members are. On top of that, I have made so many great friends throughout the past year in WAX, especially the upperclassmen who I look up to as mentors.

Joining WAX helped me find a community of genuinely good people, friends, and mentors when I was a new student. I think WAX is unique in its dual professional and social mission. There are frequent events throughout the semester where I got to know other members and develop my professional skills. I have learned so much from their events, speakers, and alumni, and I have also been able to strengthen my leadership skills.
It was one of the best decisions I made since I came to Penn.

Even from info sessions and dessert socials, I’ve always felt drawn to WAX because of the warmth and friendliness their members extended to me. In WAX, I have truly found my community of people to both make fun memories such as mochi making and ice skating and also support each other through our academic and business aspirations. As a clueless freshman and new member of an investing team, I have learned almost everything I know about finance from WAX and am so grateful to the many mentors who have been willing to invest time into mentoring me and guiding me through the tricky and confusing processes. WAX has become an integral part of my college experience and I cannot imagine college without the skills, experiences, and amazing friends I have gained from WAX.
