Description

We Can Swim! is dedicated to teaching critical swimming skills to those who need it most. We offer free lessons to kindergarten through 6th grade children from West Philadelphia and other Philly communities. Conveniently located on Penn's campus, our instructors are all student volunteers, and We Can Swim! is a student group at the University of Pennsylvania.

In light of recent events, we will also focus on helping underserved youth and the swimming community in different ways other than directly holding swimming lessons. If you have any interest in getting involved, click the subscribe button to join our listserv!

Question: How do we apply? - Anonymous
There is no formal application! This club is volunteer based so just click the bell in the top right-hand corner to subscribe to our listserv. The only requirements are a quick 300yrd swim test and completion of background check forms, both of which can be completed later due to remote learning.

Question: Do we need to have a lifeguard certification? - Anonymous
No prior certification is required! We train all of our instructors before lessons. There are clearance forms that students need to fill out but they're very quick and aren't required prior to joining the club.
