Mission
WUFT seeks to educate and support Penn undergraduates who are interested in the intersection of finance &amp; technology.

Committees
<ul>
<li><ins>Education Committee</ins> - We host events to help start discussion on the fintech landscape. In the past, we have hosted speakers such as Rajeev Misra (CEO of SoftBank Vision Fund), Kelly Steckelberg (CFO of Zoom), and Ken Hao (Chairman of Silver Lake Partners). Education also exposes the greater Penn community to FinTech through lessons on technical content.</li>
<li><ins>Internal Committee</ins> - WUFT places a heavy emphasis on teamwork and collaboration; Internal supports this value through planning our weekly GBMs, regular team bonding events, and providing our members with resources they may need to succeed in the industry.</li>
<li><ins>External Committee</ins> - Our External team manages WUFT's finances, works with our sponsors (like Citadel, DRW, and Flow Traders), as well as organizes fully subsidized treks to Silicon Valley, New York City, and Miami, visiting companies such as Google, Morgan Stanley, and Y Combinator.</li>
<li><ins>Special Projects Committee</ins> - The Special Projects committee explores and spearheads new WUFT initiatives, working with industry leaders in fintech , consulting for startups in the technology and finance space, and develops student's sourcing and engineering skills</li>

Wharton Undergraduate Finance & Technology Group (WUFT)

WUFT is a tight-knit group of undergraduates interested in the intersection of finance & technology

Joining a community at Penn can be a bit daunting at times, especially as a freshman. Coming in, I didn’t know anything about Penn extracurriculars or even what interested me at all., so I based my club search on the most intuitive criteria: the people. Ever since dropping by WUFT at the club fair, I knew it was for me. The interview process was really chill, with questions based on your character, team work, and (most importantly) fit to find a good set of people that could mold together. As a result, I’ve made some lifelong friends and mentors in this club who have taught me so much about finance, technology, and how to approach different problems. I’m so proud of what this club has been able to accomplish, from hosting speakers from some of the most well-known banks and funds to planning networking treks to SF, NYC, and perhaps even abroad in the coming years. If you are looking for a club that will enhance your career development, but will also provide you with great experiences and memories, I’d highly encourage you to give it a shot - Colin

I've been able to go on 4 day treks to San Francisco, and personally meet founders of companies like Wealthfront and Carlyle through WUFT. But most importantly, I've met some of my closest friends through this club, and the club places a large emphasis on building community. Also, free Patagonias :)

Coming to Penn can be daunting at times; however, ever since my first WUFT meeting, the club has felt like home. I've learned a tremendous amount not only through club events and weekly content, but also from the incredible life-long friends I've made. From weekly meetings to social events, I hope to gain skills from the club that will enhance my career development as well as make college memories that I will cherish - Srineeth

I was attracted to join WUFT because of the unique networking opportunities you get by being a member of the club. First, WUFT organizes two treks every year: the first to San Francisco over Fall Break and the second to NYC over one day in the spring. Members have the chance to learn and network while visiting leading firms in finance and technology, including Morgan Stanley and Square. Second, WUFT organizes a speaker series that draws executive level people to come speak on campus, including Wealthfront’s Andy Rachleff and The Carlyle Group’s Daniel D’Aniello. Since joining WUFT, I have had the opportunity to have face to face interactions with leading firms and executives. I am so glad I joined the club!

It's really hard to find a group of people at Penn as passionate, as creative, and ambitious as WUFT. From our dope SF Tech Trek to booking out G06 for the Co-Founder of the Carlyle Group to bringing in the Head of Softbank's Vision Fund, WUFT is serious about our mission to bring finance and tech innovation -- and we execute accordingly. Being surrounded by this typa energy and excitement is infectious and has helped us get to where we are today.

Also, WUFT is fam. I joined because I love tech and I wanted to meet some sick people, and I stayed because I still love tech and have met some sick people. Having been in the club for the past year and a half, I have made some great memories with this group (BYOs, biweekly meetings, sick speaker events, SF treks) and am so grateful for all of it.

WUFT's flat structure and startup vibe, which encourage members to take initiative and develop interesting new projects with the backing of the club, offer a refreshing break from the box-ticking preprofessional culture we often face at Penn. And engaging with speakers and firms as part of WUFT, all the while thinking critically about the state of finance and tech today, has helped me grasp the bigger picture of what exciting things will happen in these fields in the next 10, 20, 30 years.

Initially, I was drawn to WUFT because all of the members seemed so knowledgable and informed. This expectation definitely materialized. The club makes it easy to strike up a conversation about any topic in the space with somebody who knows the ins and outs of the sector. However, the biggest thing I have gained from WUFT is definitely the hands on experience. From day one I was given the ability to make important decisions and expected to contribute. This self starter atmosphere has contribute greatly to my current abilities.

One of my greatest experiences at Penn has been my involvement with WUFT. Through WUFT I have not only made great friends but also had a chance to interact with some of the leading figures in the fintech space. These experiences have played a big role in both my personal and career development, which I am so grateful for. My favorite thing is that everyone in the club is excited to help each other learn and grow. - Shreya
