Club Mission

The Association of Black Aspiring Dentists (ABAD) is the first and only student-run organization at the University of Pennsylvania focused on highlighting and advancing the experiences of Black pre-dental students. While our mission emphasizes uplifting Black voices in dentistry, membership is open to all students who share an interest in promoting diversity, accessibility, and equity in the profession.

ABAD fosters success through impactful mentorship with dental students, community events in collaboration with local schools, and discussions led by accomplished dental professionals. These conversations span a diverse range of topics, including oral surgery, periodontal care, advancements in dental technology, and overall well-being.

How to Get Involved

We’re on a mission to make our Philadelphia-based club an engaging hub for students interested in dentistry and the experiences of Black aspiring dentists! Whether you’re passionate about pursuing dentistry or simply curious to learn more, there are plenty of ways to dive in. Join us for our orientation to discover our goals and activities, and connect with fellow students through collaborations with other local clubs.

Mark your calendar for interactive events, where you’ll gain hands-on experience through workshops and learn from inspiring guest speakers. Don’t miss out on membership perks, and share your journey on social media to encourage others to join the conversation.

We’re all about building a supportive and inclusive community. Members can help shape the future of ABAD by mentoring peers, sharing feedback through surveys, and participating in regular community service opportunities that allow us to make a collective impact. Your involvement is what makes our association thrive, and we can’t wait to see the energy you’ll bring!
