Be The Match at Penn is a student group at the University of Pennsylvania affiliated with the national Be The Match registry. Be The Match has facilitated over 100,000 hematopoietic cell transplants to patients suffering from blood or bone marrow disorders such as leukemia or lymphoma. Only around 30% of patients can find a complete match through a family member, so the majority rely on registries like Be The Match to identify potential matches. Over 20 million individuals have signed up to join the registry, but a large number of patients still cannot find a match in time. As a newly registered member of Be The Match On Campus, we are a student-run organization dedicated to raising awareness of blood and bone marrow disorders on Penn's campus and the Philadelphia area, as well as encouraging eligible individuals to sign up and potentially save someone's life! We encourage everyone between 18 and 44 to consider signing up as you very well may make a difference in someone's life some day, and we'd love to see you at our events this upcoming school year.
