ABOUT US
The BlackGen Capital chapter at the University of Pennsylvania serves to provide valuable hands-on experience to minorities who have historically been underrepresented in the financial services industry. These underrepresented minorities are students that identify as Black/African-American, Hispanic, or Native American. The purpose of BlackGen Capital at the University of Pennsylvania is to break down barriers that have prohibited underrepresented minorities from pursuing successful careers in finance and business by creating an environment where like-minded individuals can learn from &amp; network with each other, and by providing effective educational resources that can be leveraged at any time. Our focus is to not only cater to students who already have exposure to this industry but to also attract students who do not have any experience with finance and are highly interested in learning more.

BlackGen Capital holds four critically important values. They include but are not limited to the following: Integrity, Empowerment, Philanthropy, and Education.

Empowerment: For centuries, marginalized groups in the financial services industry felt excluded and doubtful. At BlackGen Capital we seek to help each and every member realize their full potential and have greater confidence in their skills.
Philanthropy: We value the art of paying it forward. Our fund is dedicated to donating a percentage of our profits toward small URM-owned businesses across the nation.
Education: Our analysts are the core of our team, we ensure that they are equipped with all the tools, mentors, and information they need to succeed through a rigorous new member education program

BlackGen@Penn holds a recruitment period at the start of each semester in search of a new cohort for the 10-week education series.
