We are the University of Pennsylvania's student chapter for Habitat for Humanity! We help fight homelessness and build affordable housing in our community and beyond, through monthly builds, community outreach, and fundraising events throughout the year.&nbsp;
 Penn's campus chapter of Habitat for Humanity participates in local builds, hosts fundraising on-campus with other local chapters, and volunteers through other initiatives. We have various committees that organize events including the Volunteer, Fundraising, Outreach (Education), and Coalition committees. Habitat Philadelphia is an affiliate of Habitat for Humanity International, the largest non-profit homebuilder worldwide. There are more than 2,100 Habitat affiliates in over 100 countries. Together these affiliates have built over 400,000 homes since 1976. Every 10 minutes around the world, HFHI volunteers help move a family into safe, decent affordable shelter. We partner with families who enter our homeownership program based on three criteria: level of need, willingness to become partners in the program and ability to repay the loan. Our families earn between 30-60% below the median income. To give you an idea, the majority of our four person families are earning between $25,000 - $35,000/year.

My name is Aden Yacobi. I am a junior in the College and I am also the co-President of Penn Habitat for Humanity. I joined Habitat my freshman year because I was always interested in helping build housing for those in need. On the Coalition Committee, I helped plan our large fundraising events like the annual 5K and Rake-a-Thon. I really enjoyed the impact I was having in raising funds for the local Philadelphia Habitat for Humanity, as well as undertaking these large projects in Coalition Committee. In addition, I also had the pleasure of meeting many new friendly faces who helped me grow as a person along the way.

Hi! My name is Sheyenne Gillis. I am a junior in nursing with a minor in psychology and am the other co-president of Penn Habitat for Humanity! I joined Habitat in the beginning of my freshman year when I was flagged down by some friendly faces tabling during the SAC Fair on Locust (oh, pre-covid time), and after asking some questions I figured out that this club would be a great opportunity to give back to the Philadelphia community and help with something I was concerned about--affordable housing and homelessness. 
I joined the Outreach committee and really enjoyed putting on events to spread awareness about issues regarding affordable housing and homelessness. I also made some great friends in the committee! My sophomore year I became chair of Outreach so I was able to dive a little deeper with organizing events, and now am co-president. I have really enjoyed my time being a part of Penn Habitat. I have met great people, participated in events both local and a bit outside Philly, and feel like I am helping people. Usually during "normal" times we go on builds and are more hands on (and social), but currently we have been focused on fundraising and outreach events to help during these times! We have weekly or bi-weekly meetings and this club is low-pressure I have felt, yet still meaningful!
