Club Mission

The Penn Band was founded in 1897, making us one of the oldest student groups on campus. With about 150 members from 25 states and 14 countries, we are also one of the biggest groups at Penn and one of the largest bands in the Ivy League. We assemble over 100 times each academic year, making us among the most active college bands in the country.

How to Get Involved

The Penn Band attends Penn football games and most men's and women's basketball games. We also travel to select Penn football and basketball games at other Ivy League / Northeastern schools. Besides sports, we represent Penn at special events in Philadelphia and have a robust program of community outreach, including visiting local elementary schools to inspire a love for music, and inviting high school band students to play alongside us at games!

The band also hosts social gatherings, movie/game nights, and other section-specific events for its members throughout the year!

Everyone is welcome to join the Penn Band! We have no tryouts, applications, or auditions. It's never too late to join – we practice every Monday at 6pm and every Wednesday at 8:30pm. Email us at join@pennband.net or fill out our interest form (linked under "Join" on our website, pennband.net/join) to be sure to get all the details. See you there!
