<p>BSL was established to reach out and connect the Black Community, and strengthen the bonds between the various groups within the Diaspora. By making connections with our heritage, we can better understand who we are ourselves. Furthermore, the BSL offers a place for students to acquaint themselves with the University and assists the students in making the Ivy-League experience more accessible and fruitful—whether through mentoring programs, socials, forums, cross-cultural events etc. It is our job to serve as the student run hub for the “Black” experience at Penn. While at one point it served as the active political voice on campus, it has shifted to a catalyst and facilitator of anything that may concern those who consider themselves a part of the African American Diaspora. BSL is a student group at the University of Pennsylvania.</p>

Black Student League

The BSL is built around fostering a community for Penn students .

BSL has given me the opportunity to contribute to the growth and legacy of a historic organization on our campus. I have been able to offer and implement my ideas that have helped strengthen BSL's sustainability and presence. By getting involved and heavily investing in the black community at Penn, I have also been able to make new friends, which has ultimately enhanced my experience at Penn.

My favorite part about BSL is seeing it evolve throughout the years, but no matter how many changes we go through or obstacles we face, the passion for improving the black community at Penn always remains.
