<p>Penn Dance was founded in 1975 as the first performing dance company at the University of Pennsylvania. Penn Dance is a co-ed, student-run dance company that prides itself on its innovative and expressive performances. While primarily a modern dance company, our dancers come from a variety of backgrounds and have been trained in styles ranging from ballet to modern to hip-hop to Latin. Influenced by various techniques and forms of movement, our performances contain a unique array of styles.</p>

UPenn's premiere performing dance group

Penn Dance has provided a space for me to expand my creativity and develop my choreography under the guidance of the artistic director, Rachel Kantra Beal. Our company is centered around modern dance, but our dancers come from various backgrounds, which is reflected in the diversity of the pieces we present in our semesterly show. I am so proud to be a member of such a boundary-pushing group.

PD is a creative sorority without the rushing and Greek letters. PD is a marvelous dance company with an eclectic repertoire, but to me, the best part is the family it provides.
