Club Mission

The Penn Grad Boxing Club (PGBC) brings students from across the University's graduate schools together to learn the fundamentals of boxing in a safe and welcoming environment. We are a student-run organization with coaching from Harrison Ridell of Undercard, who has worked with both PLBC and Wharton’s boxing club for years. We welcome all members, regardless of athletic ability or boxing experience, and strive to build a community of enthusiastic and respectful peers. Our classes are additive over the course of the fall and spring semester, beginning with foundational techniques developed through shadow boxing, heavy bag training, and partner-based drills, complemented by strength and conditioning exercises. In the late fall and through the spring, members have the option to participate in sparring (i.e., light combat) sessions, which are closely monitored by Harrison and members of the PBLC board.

To reiterate, you do not need any experience and sparring is completely optional.

A select group of our members compete in the annual Wharton v. Law Fight Night each spring, a black tie charity event that donates all ticket proceeds to the Boys and Girls Club of Philadelphia. Fight Night participants receive additional training and are coached through all aspects of the process, from building mental resilience to choosing the right walk out music. Fight Night selection is based on commitment to training and the availability of a suitable match; we have had many fighters with no prior experience. Likewise, Fight Night selection is not limited to Law students.

We're currently training twice a week at the Philadelphia Sports Club on 18th and Market. If you have any interest in learning how to box, please reach out and join us!

We can’t wait to see you in the gym!
