Science Olympiad at the University of Pennsylvania (SOUP) is a student-run organization at Penn that hosts a Science Olympiad invitational tournament and mentors local middle school and high school teams in Philadelphia to spur interest in STEM for students who might otherwise lack the opportunity.
Our Purpose
Science Olympiad is a non-profit organization that hosts tournaments on a regional, state, and national level with around 7,800 teams of 15 students. These tournaments consist of 23 events that test students on a range of subjects, including biology, earth and space science, chemistry, and engineering.
Our mission is to host the largest Science Olympiad invitational in the nation, providing young students nationwide the opportunity to experience Science Olympiad. We also run Urban Initiative to provide science mentorship and resources to students from underfunded high schools in Philadelphia.
