The University of Pennsylvania's student-run chapter of the Society for Creative Anachronism (SCA), a non-profit volunteer educational organization. The SCA is devoted to the research and re-creation of pre-seventeenth century skills, arts, combat, culture, and employing knowledge of history to enrich the lives of participants through events, demonstrations, and other educational presentations and activities.

Sarah Bernstein got her BA from the University of Pennsylvania and is currently a student in a dual degree program, pursuing both a M. A. in public history at North Carolina State University and a M. S. in library science at the UNC School of Information and Library Science. Her background is in the sociology and history of medicine, studying unorthodox and fringe medicine in the United States and England to gain insight into the creation of medical legitimacy and establishment of medical authority. She is currently researching the ethics of human remains on display in medical collections, museums, and related contexts. Sarah has kindly agreed to share this research with us.
