The Penn Society of Women Engineers (SWE) is a student group at the University of Pennsylvania. We are a collegiate chapter of the Society of Women Engineers, a non-profit service organization aimed at informing the community of the qualifications and achievements of women engineers. Its mission is to stimulate women to achieve their full potential in their careers as engineers and as leaders, to expand the image of the engineering profession as a positive force in improving the quality of life, and to demonstrate the value of diversity. 
The University of Pennsylvania Student Chapter has four primary objectives:

<li>Professional development and corporate relations</li>
<li>Education outreach to local high schools and elementary schools</li>
<li>Community development and social engagement</li>
<li>Gender equity and advocacy</li>
</ul>
Penn SWE consists of the following three committees. Applications open at the beginning of each semester:
Gender Equity and Advocacy Committee
The Gender Equity and Advocacy Committee is is devoted to growing initiatives related to gender equity and advocacy in the Penn Engineering community and beyond. The committee is responsible for planning events which further this mission. 
Educational Outreach Committee
The Educational Outreach Committee inspires the next generation of women engineers by promoting STEM education and engaging with community partners. Events and initiatives held include GEARS (Girls in Engineering and Related Sciences) Day, High School Shadowing Day, and mentorship with students at local schools. Committee members will be responsible for helping organize and coordinate these events, serving as mentors, and brainstorming new initiatives. 
Community Development Committee
The Community Development Committee cultivates a tight-knit, supportive, and confident community of women engineers by fostering mentorship, personal connections, and career development. The committee is responsible for planning mentorship initiatives, social events, professional development workshops, and wellness initiatives.
