Club Mission

SPEC Connaissance (also known as Conn) is the SPEC sub-committee tasked with bringing high-profile speakers to campus who challenge, educate, and entertain the student body. We are also committed to representing diverse perspectives. As a general body member, you will offer input into our speaker selection process and attend the event for free. This includes access to a private meet and greet with speakers afterwards.

Past keynote speakers include:

  • 2023 - 2024: Josh Peck, Victoria Justice, Daveed Diggs
  • 2022 - 2023: Spike Lee, Stephanie Hsu
  • 2021 - 2022: Yvonne Orji, Hunter Schafer
  • 2020 - 2021: John Mulaney, Bob the Drag Queen, Keke Palmer, Simu Liu
  • 2019 - 2020: Alex Moffat, Ego Nwodim, Vanessa Bayer, Mikey Day, Melissa Villasenor
  • 2018 - 2019: Terry Crews, Laverne Cox, Antoni Porowski
  • 2017 - 2018: Trevor Noah, Hasan Minhaj, Woody Harrelson

In addition to putting on our own events, Conn also co-sponsors speaker events put on by other campus groups. We are an open and loving community where all ideas, viewpoints, and people are welcome! As a committed general body member, you will have the opportunity to vote on cosponsorships.
