This is a badge for the Spring 2021 SAC Fair.

The mission of Stimulus Children’s Theatre Company (Stim) is to produce shows that teach valuable lessons which resonate with audiences of all ages. Students at the University of Pennsylvania share stories that communicate themes we feel are important to pass on to young audiences, such as friendship, acceptance and compassion. 
In addition to performing on-campus shows for our peers (typically a musical in the Fall and a play in the Spring), Stim is unique among Penn student theatre in our community service endeavours. From off-campus community shows to theatre-based workshops, we love to inspire, benefit and teach Philadelphia youth. Our community-based programming draws upon our experiences within theatre and music to provide arts-based enrichment for children in Philadelphia.

Stimulus Children's Theatre Company

The University of Pennsylvania’s premier theatre group geared toward young audiences.

Stimulus Children’s Theatre is a family of people that enjoy performance art and use it to connect with children attending schools and other similar organizations throughout the West Philly area. Be it acting, singing, dancing, makeup knowledge, directing knowledge, or technological knowledge of what it takes to build a set or handle a sound board, everyone in Stimulus harnesses an artistic talent to produce a children’s show (either a play or a musical) that both entertains Penn students and encourages children in the area to become involved in theatre.

Being a member of Stim is being a member of a team of people who love theatre and the performing arts, including all of the different kinds work that go behind making a show, and who use that common interest to reach out to kids in West Philadelphia. You really get to work together to produce something creative and form a lot of friendships along the way. The product you get from being a member is really fulfilling because it includes both the tangible art and the intangible benefits of community outreach. It's nice to be a part of something so productive but also so expressive.

My experience as a performer and as a board member for Stimulus Children's Theatre Company has been wonderful! I'm so grateful that Stim Board has become my intimate theatre family (we're 9 people who lead the Company) within the larger Theatre Arts Council (TAC-e), which is a vibrant, kind and welcoming community! In productions, I've played larger-than-life characters, painted set pieces, laughed a lot, and made a lot of good friends along the way. If you are interested in inspiring kids to think creatively through the performing arts, Stim may be a good fit for you!
