The University of Pennsylvania Game Research and Development Environment (UPGRADE) is a student group at Penn that fosters creative expression through game development in the Penn community by bringing together artists, designers, programmers, writers, and musicians. We welcome members who are interested in any aspect of game development, from prototyping and concept creation to execution and publishing, including business, marketing, and financial considerations!
We meet every Saturday, from 4-7, in Levine room 307.

UPGRADE

We are University of Pennsylvania's game dev club!

Just as a fan of gaming, working on projects in UPGRADE really builds appreciation for the work big-name developers put into their projects. And then on top of that, learning more about the industry has been eye-opening and just really cool.

UPGRADE is a really friendly environment where you can learn how to make games and even get some insight into the gaming industry at large. We use some of the same software and techniques as some of our favorite games so it's really great to share in that process.

My favorite part about UPGRADE is that I entered without knowing anything about computer science but along the way I've become a coder, writer and artist. There's always this moment of awe I have where I hit 'Run' and take pride of the great things my team has accomplished
